Chalcedony

Traditionally defined as a fibrous cryptocrystalline variety of Quartz, more recently, it has been shown that much Chalcedony is a mixture of Quartz and Moganite, another silica mineral. When it is concentrically banded (often in rather wild patterns) it is called by the subvariety name Agate. When it is in flat layers/bands it is called by the subvariety name Onyx.

Considered a sacred stone by the Native American Indians, chalcedony nurtures and promotes brotherhood and good will. It is used to assist telepathy, absorbs negative energy and dissipates it, harmonizes mind, body, and spirit, and instills generosity. Chalcedony is a powerful cleanser, including open sores.  It increases physical energy. Healers use it to decrease ill effects of senility and dementia as well as to heal the eyes, gallbladder, bones, spleen, blood and circulatory system.
